What happens when AI becomes the illustrator? And just because we can automate something creative, does that mean we should?
Code Club is pleased to host GDG Douglas on Tuesday 15 September for an interactive evening exploring AI-generated illustration and the questions it raises about creativity, ownership and consent.
Felipe Ceotto, Founder and CTO of Gaming Mechanics, will demonstrate an open-source system that uses Gemini, Nano Banana and Veo to illustrate and animate a public domain novel. With opportunities for audience participation, the session offers an accessible look at these tools for both technical and non-technical attendees.
The demonstration will set the scene for a wider discussion. What might we lose when style and character design are automated? Where do working artists fit in? And does using a public domain story resolve the ethical questions surrounding the images we create?
At Code Club, we believe exploring technology should also mean thinking about its impact. This is a chance to bring your curiosity, share your perspective and join that conversation.
