We’re trying something different this Saturday and will be running a Mini Hackathon with the aim of learning how Open Badges work and how we can implement them for Code Club. A hackathon is a great way to bring together people with different skills, with the aim of creating something useable. So, what’s the brief?
Well, Open Badges is an open standard developed by Mozilla to recognise and verify learning. It would be awesome if Code Club could issue these on completion of a course, but to do this we need to figure a way to create, store and issue badges. The Open Badges initiative gives us the framework to do this, but we still need to figure out how to join the dots and produce a polished deliverable.
This event is going to be very fluid and open to people of all skills and talents. If you know how to design graphics, we can use your skills. If you can code, we need your talents. If you only do infrastructures and servers, we need you too. And if you can’t do any of those, you can sit with someone who can and learn through observing.
So, who’s coming?
