This Saturday at 4:00pm we’ll be running one of our favourite Scratch classes: Ghostbusters! It starts introducing our young students to the concept of game mechanics (which some of them already understand really well) and how Scratch can be used to build games. It’s also a great introduction to User Interaction (UX) and shaping a program around a user, so some great concepts to start working with. This will be followed at 5:00pm by Roblox Scripting which we’re continuing until the end of the year. We’ll be starting something new in January, but want to hear from you what you’d like to learn about, so drop me a line.

This Saturday we’ll also see the 2nd leg of the CyberSecurity contest we’re taking part in: Cybercenturion. The team has been preparing for a few weeks and we had a fantastic result after the First Round, so everyone’s really excited. Our Cyber team currently meet on a weekly basis (Tuesday evening) for practice and learning sessions. If you’d like to join, drop me a line.

We’re planning some electronic workshops for next week (16th December) which include a choice of Christmas projects, Raspberry Pi making and other activities. We’ll be announcing details over the next few days, so watch this space!

One side note, the WordPress User Group will be meeting at STEAM Lab this Thursday. If you have an interest in WordPress, whether as a developer or as a user, you’re welcome to join us. We’ll be focusing on multi-lingual sites this session. More details on the Meetup Page here:

Finally, we’re always looking for volunteers and help to deliver tech learning to others. If you feel you can help, please get in touch. If you can’t give us some time, please donate something from our wishlist:
