This Saturday is Open Data Day and we’re taking a break from our usual routine to introduce some Manx Open Data Sets and create some local mashups. Here’s what Open Data Day is about:
Open Data Day is a gathering of citizens in cities around the world to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analyses using open public data to show support for and encourage the adoption open data policies by the world’s local, regional and national governments.
We’ll be starting off with introducing Open Data, talking about some local data sets, mention D3.js and some other mashup tools; then open the floor for people to create, discuss and hack. If you have ideas of what can be useful, if you have coding skills and are looking for a challenge, if you’re curious about how all this works together; come and join us. It’s an open session and all are invited.
Please note that there are no Scratch or Python classes this Saturday, and while the hackspace and 3D groups will probably meet as usual, we’re going to try and rope them into our Open Data Session.
Come join us, it should be fun!
