We had a fantastic session last week with lots of new faces and a packed Scratch session! Apologies to those who did not manage to get a machine to work on, lots of people were sharing, but we now have 12 Code Club machines to use and a number of people will be bringing their own laptops. But even if you were sharing, I hope you learnt something and will be joining us again this Saturday. If you didn’t manage to get a copy of the handout, here’s a link where you can print off your own copy:
We have another couple of sessions planned for you this week, with Advanced Python at 4:00pm and Beginner Scratch at 5:00pm, but there are also other things happening around Code Club if those aren’t for you. We have people working on 3D design, building area on our Minecraft server and even building robots. In fact we have an area cleared out for people to work with Lego Mindstorms. We were hoping to run a robotics course use Lego Mindstorms, but don’t have enough equipment to do this yet. In the meantime, we have some sets on loan from DEC and are encouraging people to come and learn how they work. We have a number of volunteers who can work with you to show you how to build robots, use the Mindstorms sensors and use software to programme your creations. This will be happening in the boardroom downstairs.
So whether you’re into hardware, software or just interested in tech, there’s lots to see and do at Code Club. Come join us this Saturday between 4:00pm and 6:00pm!
