So we’re starting to get the Christmas bug at Code Club, especially as we have our last formal session this week. That’s the Python for Beginners class that’s holding their last lesson this Saturday. It’s been a fun course to run and I hope the students have learnt something new and will be practicing over the holidays.

We’ll be operating as a drop-in centre for the duration of the holidays and we’re starting to plan what’s happening next year. It’s looking like we have demand for a couple of things and will probably be doing the following in January:

  • Beginning Scratch
  • Advanced Python
  • Introduction to Excel

We already have some people on the waiting list for these, but if you’re interested please contact us and we’ll add you in. Dates and details are being finalised as we speak.

We’re also looking to spice things up in the Hackspace and next year we’ll be playing with Lego Mindstorms. This is a platform for robotics and a great way to teach programming and customisation. More details about this in the future, but in the meantime, if you’re after a gift with an educational focus for Xmas, Mindstorms may just be the thing for you.
