First of all, a massive thank you for the turn out last Saturday, I really appreciate all the support and it was amazing to see so many people in one place! I just wanted to sum up the conversations we had over the afternoon and so that everyone knows what's going on. First of all, we'll be keeping Saturday from 4:00pm till 6:00pm as a regular slot for Code Club. The Forum will be available for anyone who wants to drop in, whether it's to code quietly on their own, to catch up with someone over a coffee and discuss tech; or to come and seek out programming help for something they may be stuck on. There's free Wifi and coffee, so take advantage of it! I was intending to run a Beginning Scratch course starting 15th March. Due to the number of people interested (28 last count) and a number of volunteers, I'll be running 2 sessions back to back on Saturdays so we can get everyone in. The great thing about The Forum is that they have 4 potential classrooms, so there's still lots of scope for other things to be going on at the same time; so if there's anything you'd like to run, we can schedule this in and advertise to get people in. If you can volunteer to help with the Scratch sessions, please let me know. Knowledge of Scratch is useful but not essential as you can learn together with the others in the class. Finally, we agreed to set up a committee/council to move Code Club along. There are still a number of things to organise, specifically around what structure we want to adopt, child protection policies, membership to the club, managing members, whether to charge fees etc. If you want to form part of the committee, please drop me a line. As things get more organised, we should get better at using this site and Social Media to communicate what's going on, but in the meantime, if you have any questions, just contact us!
